sir,
With reference to my despatch No.195
of the 5th. instant, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copy of a letter from Mr.J.7.Boulton asking for an increase of
salary.
2.
The question: of placing Mr.Boulton on
the permanent Engineering Staff of the Public Works Department formed the subject of she despatches noved in the margin,
Sir H.A.Blake so Secreuary of and I have now to report that as the Praya State, No. 246, 25 th. August, 1899. Reclamation. works will be nearing comple Secretary of State to Sir H. Ation, if not completed, at the end of nexu Blake, No.231, 13th. October, 1899. year, and as the Director of Public Works
reports that the reclamation in front of the Eastern Praya, con- cerning which Sir H.A. Blake will no doubo address you on his return, might well be begur. next year upon the return of Mr.Boul- ton, it seems time to come to a decision as what the future
of Mr Boniton position shall be.
•
3. Whether the new Reclamation in question
Own
is carried out by Government on its account or on behalf of the
Λ Marine Lotholders there is no question that the reclamation must be made if only o escape che insanitary condition which would otherwise be created by the projection seawards of the enormous reclamation in front/the Naval Yard which has already been begun, and it is obvious that it would be of great advantage
RIGHT HONOURABLE
